What is SoYoDa?

Created by Embodied Practice Director, Michele Ainza, as a donation-based class, SoYoDa integrates Somatics, Yoga, and Dance for a mindful approach to movement, fitness, and self-care. It is an All-Level 60 Minute Class designed to remain inclusive, thought- provoking, and fun. Gain strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination while developing self-awareness and confidence. Methodologies in Bartenieff Fundamentals (BF), Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), Asana (Yoga Postures), Pranayama (Breath Work), Meditation, Contemporary & Traditional Dance Forms, Improvisation, Pilates, and Journaling will be explored. We gradually increase internal heat to warm up the body to explore movements that grow from simple to complex. Our aim is to release judgment and negative thought patterns while exploring new physical modalities to increase range of motion and movement choices. Embrace your authentic self as we celebrate our bodies in motion, breathing, sweating, and dancing together as a community. Donations payable at Venmo or PayPal via Michele Ainza.

What should I wear/bring to class?

Yourself, a journal, and comfortable attire that does not inhibit your movement. Feel free to bring a yoga mat, strap, and blocks for the asana section of class, as well as other items that provide you comfort such as a blanket and knee pads. SoYoDa is designed to be modified based on your present state so bring what serves you.
